Around Junkeimachi Dori (currently Minamisemba), many lively night stalls appeared. Those stalls grew bigger and stretched south to Ebisbashi. This prosperity and liveliness even shocked people from the capital, Edo (currently Tokyo).

According to the book, "Settu Meisho Zue Taisei," there was a tremendous variety of stores: kimono stores, cotton stores, furniture stores, and hardware stores to say the least.
